Pocket Bus - 口袋巴士 app for iPhone and iPad

This app was created by NUS High School for Mathematics and Science for the SCCL App Development Competition 2018.

口袋巴士, which means ""全新加坡的景点都被装在了我的口袋里"", is an app where the kids can ""travel"" around Singapore easily in the ""bus"" and enjoy learning Chinese in their journey. It aims to accelerate Chinese learning using graphic tools like animation. Learning Chinese with this app is a never-ending journey, as it covers a wide range of content, supported by a fixed format and the use of web service. To sustain interest, users go on an adventure to learn about chinese and the relevant themes.

How relevant will this be to my child?
The app follows the syllabus closely, with additional supplements. The app targets lower primary school children. However, if your child is younger, you can go through the app with them and they are likely to enjoy the app too!

How much will my child enjoy this?
The outlook appeals to children, and stimulates their interest in Chinese learning. Your child will also follow the adventures of the main character as she goes around the different places in Singapore.

There’s more! There are games which allow them to compete with real opponents and self to motivate them to continually improve their knowledge in the subject since most children have a very strong competitive nature. In 脑力达人, users can compete with others using the app. It will be used to upload the child’s progress and score so parents can check on them.

Anything else?
The parents side of the app give the parents an opportunity to have a better understanding of their kids Chinese learning process, so that they can step in to help when necessary. They also get to see which 景点 their children visit the most, so they can bring them to the actual places for field trip, to get a deeper understanding as well as family bonding and make the child more interested in learning. This gives the child a deeper impression of what they have learnt about the places.
